FAQ: Square Root Calculator
What is a square root?
The square root of a number is a value that, when multiplied by itself, gives the original number. For example, the square root of 25 is 5.
Can negative numbers have square roots?
In real numbers, negative numbers don’t have square roots. However, they do in the complex number system using imaginary numbers.
Is the square root of every number exact?
No. Only perfect squares like 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, etc., have exact square roots. Others result in irrational numbers (non-terminating, non-repeating decimals).
