HEC Law Graduate Assessment Test (Law-GAT) 2025 – Apply Online by September 30

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, through the Education Testing Council (ETC), has announced the Law Graduate Assessment Test (Law-GAT) for law graduates seeking enrollment as Advocates with the Bar Council. Passing this test is mandatory to become eligible for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Law or an equivalent qualification from a local or foreign university recognized by HEC/PBC.
  • Candidates who have already availed seven (7) attempts, or those already enrolled as advocates, or those who have failed to complete a law degree, are not eligible.

Test Pattern and Curriculum

  • Format: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Passing Marks: 50 out of 100

Validity

  • The Law-GAT qualifying score remains valid as per HEC/PBC regulations for bar enrollment.

Test Schedule

  • Last Date for Online Registration: Tuesday, 30 September 2025 (24:00 hrs)
  • Test Date: Sunday, 19 October 2025
  • Test centers will be arranged across Pakistan.

How to Apply

  1. Visit etc.hec.gov.pk for online registration.
  2. Create a profile and provide personal details (Name, CNIC number, Email, Mobile, etc.).
  3. Upload a recent passport-size photograph with a blue background.
  4. Download and pay the test fee through the designated bank channel as mentioned on the ETC portal.
  5. Select a preferred test center (final choice depends on minimum candidate numbers).
  6. Print your Roll Number Slip from the ETC website before the test date.
  7. Bring the Roll Number Slip, original CNIC/Passport on test day.

Important Notes

  • Test fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Candidates must use their own CNIC and mobile number; third-party details will not be accepted.
  • Strict disciplinary action will be taken for false information or submission of tampered documents.

  • HEC score validity will align with Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) rules for enrollment.
  • Electronic devices, books, or any communication tools are strictly prohibited inside the test center.
